Transform Your Bookshelf into a Social Network: New App Connects Readers Using AI

A new mobile application, BoiPoka, has launched with the aim of helping readers find deeper connections by digitizing their physical bookshelves and matching them with others based on shared literary interests. The app, developed by BoiPoka Labs Private Limited, utilizes artificial intelligence claiming to provide an alternative to conventional social feeds by prioritizing intellectual compatibility.

BoiPoka’s standout feature allows users to instantaneously catalogue their entire library. By taking “a single photograph,” the app’s AI technology reads every spine on the shelf, converting the physical collection into an “organised, searchable digital library” within seconds.

This digital library then becomes the foundation for connection. Users can explore their collections, discover their “Book Twins”—people with highly compatible reading histories—and initiate reading groups to discuss shared ideas.

Meera Raman, Co-founder and CEO of BoiPoka, explained in the issued press release the philosophy behind the design: “Readers have always found common ground in ideas. We wanted to build an app that honours that. A single photograph turns your bookshelf into an organised, shareable space, and sometimes, into a bridge to people who think like you. BoiPoka is for those who want more meaningful dialogue in a digital world crowded with the superficial.”

The app’s creators recognized that while other platforms exist for book organization or general social networking, none effectively facilitate genuine connections through shared intellectual property. The application is built on the belief that literary taste serves as a more authentic basis for community than superficial metrics.

Beyond connecting individuals, BoiPoka supports curated book discovery from partner bookstores, facilitates structured reading programs with libraries and educational institutions, and hosts community discussions.

The BoiPoka app is now available for free download on both iOS and Android. It is supported commercially through partnerships with bookstores and libraries, as well as revenue from merchandise and events.
