Vishnu Chemicals to Acquire Chrome Mining Complex in South Africa

Vishnu Chemicals Limited, a global leader in specialty chemicals, has announced a definitive agreement to acquire a substantial Chrome Mining Complex in South Africa through its subsidiary, Vishnu South Africa (Pty) Limited. This acquisition, valued at up to $10 million (approx. ₹84 Crores), will provide Vishnu Chemicals with a stable supply of chrome ore essential for its manufacturing operations.

The Chrome Mining Complex includes a chrome mine spread across 1,800 hectares with an estimated resource of 10 million tonnes, along with a processing plant and mining infrastructure. Vishnu Chemicals’ acquisition aligns with its strategy for forward and backward integration, ensuring a steady supply of raw materials for its growing production needs.

The transaction will involve a mix of share and asset deals, with Vishnu’s subsidiary holding a 74% stake in the mining entity and 100% ownership of the processing plant. This acquisition will proceed on a debt-free, cash-free, and liability-free basis, funded by existing cash reserves and internal accruals. Post-acquisition, Vishnu Chemicals plans to restore the mine and processing plant to optimize production.

The acquisition, expected to conclude within 12 months pending regulatory approvals, strengthens Vishnu Chemicals’ position in the global market and enhances its capacity to meet the diverse needs of clients across over 50 countries.
