At iLink Digital, the person who built the tool that checks contracts for compliance is not a software engineer. Neither is the wellness lead who built four AI agents, or the recruiter whose résumé-screening assistant frees up hours for a specialised team. The company says this is the point of “Client Zero”, an internal programme meant to prove AI works for the people closest to a problem before it sells the idea to clients.

iLink Digital, which describes itself as an AI-led digital transformation company, says Client Zero has logged 449 distinct AI use cases, of which 215 are live in production, warranty or final rollout. It says 120 are owned and driven by business teams outside engineering, including HR, Finance, Legal, Wellness, Marketing and Employee Engagement. In all, 58 employees across 14 functions have each taken ownership of at least one agent.
What the non-engineers built
- Legal: a compliance-checking assistant that reviews master service agreements and other contracts against the company’s legal requirements.
- Employee Engagement: automation of new-hire communications, event reminders, recognition-point nudges and awards nominations, which the company says recovers “dozens of hours” a month.
- Wellness: four agents covering survey rollouts, monthly reporting, curated content and an early-stage wellness chatbot, built by a lead without an engineering background.
- Recruitment: an agent supporting PERM résumé screening, also said to free up dozens of hours a month.
- Alliance: an assistant that scans Salesforce’s opportunity pipeline to find deals eligible for Microsoft co-funding, replacing a manual quarterly review.
The employees used iLink’s own iGentic and BEAK platforms alongside Claude, Microsoft Copilot Studio, Power Platform and Salesforce Agentforce.
“Client Zero means we don’t ask our clients to trust AI that we haven’t already put to work on our own people, our own processes, and our own risk,” said Sree Balaji, Co-Founder and Group CEO. He added that nearly half of the agents already live in production “were built by employees who have never written a line of production code in their careers: a recruiter, a wellness lead, a legal reviewer.”
Ratheesh C Krishnageeth, Chief Operations Officer, said: “Delivery at iLink is now AI-first, and Client Zero is where that discipline gets tested on ourselves.”
The company frames the programme as capability-building, not cost-cutting, saying it is focused on making employees “more capable and better equipped for an AI-led workplace, rather than using AI simply to reduce headcount.” Each use case is tracked against an owner, status and measures such as hours reclaimed, turnaround time, error rates and throughput.
iLink says it plans to extend Client Zero to more functions and move more use cases into production, and to carry the lessons into client engagements.
